I’m fairly certain I will, but I’ve also been practicing the cadence of his voice. It’s not too far from my normal speaking voice in pitch. I hope people will be so impressed by me that they forget to misquote the only thing they know about Carl Sagan.

Fic War - with the Matrix destroyed during the Time War, Time Lords have no afterlife. The Doctor and Master are the only ones who truly know how much history and knowledge is lost forever.

It hit him sometime towards the end of his ninth regeneration. The day had been eventful- a particularly strange adventure involving the Slitheen, Harriet Jones, and the decimation of Downing Street. Rose had gone off to bed for the night, when the Doctor found himself with a bit of time alone.

Heading off towards an isolated workshop deep within the TARDIS, the Doctor set to improve upon a painstaking miniature replica of Gallifrey’s citadel. He had started this project some time ago, as a sort of penance for his misdeeds. As his hands worked reverently, the Time Lord forced himself to think of everything he had utterly destroyed… everyone he had murdered.

It was painful, sure. But the Doctor knew he owed it to them to keep their memories alive, at least within himself.

Memories… Time Lords had always had an unusual way of storing memories and knowledge accruing over the years. In order to prevent a dilution of material, they created a Matrix to store their vast expanses of intelligence. And that… that was gone too.

All of those billions upon billions of years of knowledge. The wisdom of the collective Time Lord race- gone. Gone forever.

Of course, the Doctor himself retained a bit of that information- from what he had learned in the Academy and during his nine hundred odd years of life. But the fraction of knowledge saved within his brain was positively inconsequential compared to what had been lost.

And the worst part of it? The worst part was that the Doctor, the man who destroyed this information, was the only being left in existence who could ever even begin to comprehend the sheer gravity of the situation. He was the only being who could wrap his head around the concept of the Matrix, and therefore he was the only one who could truly mourn it’s destruction.

The Doctor put down his tools, rubbing his eyes. He was so weary…

Seasons pass, companions fade, the storm begins to roar. The end of time, a golden watch, and he’s alone no more.

Dawn had just broken upon the airship Valiant. The Master sat in his office, wide-awake as the humans slept. He had to admit, the quiet time was quite welcome. It gave the Time Lord a chance to improve his plans, work on his inventions, or… once in a long while, reflect on all that had happened.

When he had awoken from his slumber within the fob watch, the Master had found himself in a very new world than the one he had departed from so many years ago. Although the drums still pounded away, his head was by and large… silent. The signals of nearby Time Lords were simply gone. Gone. Of course, there was one other signal, faint beneath the weight of age. But it was there. He was not alone.

Continuing on this train of thought, Saxon allowed himself to think upon all that had been lost in the war. Enemies, primarily. Hah, good riddance. But… he had had friends, no matter how few in number. Not to mention a family….

He shook his head, attempting to clear away that particular memory. No no, it was no use to dwell on that particular bit of information now.

Continuing in his inventory, the Master noted that the the burnt orange skies had been lost, as had the wavering fields of red grass. Gallifrey’s numerous other species had been decimated presumably… along with a potentially powerful weapon- an intelligence database which contained 100 billion years worth of Time Lord knowledge. The Matrix.

Of course, it was possible that the Doctor had managed to save the Matrix from the destruction. Despite the other man’s idiocy, the Master fervently hoped that he had risen to the occasion and secured the database.

Standing up, Saxon decided to take a little walk, in order to visit the Doctor and ask him about that particular artifact. On the way, the Master vowed that, should the Doctor have in fact lost the item in question, he would beat him into a bloody pulp.

Several minutes later, the sound of cracking bones echoed through the halls.

Well, that was plumb devastatin’.

Last week, we all got our hopes up that the huge gaps in Doctor Who’s history, with whole years of the show basically gone, might be filled in with the return of a bunch of missing episodes. And now, the inevitable has happened and reality has set in.

Awwww…Well, I didn’t have my hopes up too much (because Bleeding Cool has a history of posting rumors without sourcing, and many in the comic book industry don’t like that site, at all). But those 10 seconds where I imagined it was all real were fun.

I didn’t even bother discussing it because it was on Bleeding Cool. I’ve never believed a word of that site. Even when they’re “right” about something, it’s only because it was posted on a more reliable site first.

I have been waiting for these stats for many moons. (Holy SHIT 8% directors)

I work in the industry (the video industry), and it’s a very tough world for women. We make so much less than the men in the same positions, but we are often expected to do much more such as answering phones and taking notes and getting the food on shoots (even when we’re Assistant Directors).

I had a pretty good time. It sucked being tied to the table all day. I have trouble sitting still when I’m the Doctor (though, because we were wearing costumes from two different series, I didn’t feel so weird and naked running off and leaving Mikhail at the table), and Watson really wanted to hobble around behind Sherlock on Friday.

There were a lot of really fun costumes, and people seemed to be having a great time. I hope some of them come to our convention, though, since that was the REAL reason we were there. The Doctor Who panel was alright. The PowerPoint was fantastic, but one of the hosts seemed to think he was much funnier than he was because he kept repeating the same jokes even as the laughs got less and less each time. Oh, well. Panelists cannot be perfect, or they’d get paid to do it. He sure tried, and the panel was entertaining (it was the only thing I got to attend, and I stayed the whole time if that’s an indication).

My favorite cosplay all weekend was that wonderful Hawkeye. Wow. So funny. So fandom savvy. I’ve got to post a picture this week of the wonderful Hawkeye Initiative pose I got.

The best moment all weekend, I think, was after Mikhail and I went out to the car for food on Friday, and I was leaning a bit on my cane coming back up to the convention center doors. Mikhail (Sherlock) sort of swaggered off in front of me and opened the door for me with his little gloved hand upon his heart and a bow. The group of young women sitting nearby giggled profusely, and I had trouble holding my straight face.
